Grading system &
graduation requirements
The marks awarded for each
course range from 1 (lowest) to
7 (highest).
A minimum of 25 credits is
required for graduation and
credits are awarded for the
successful completion of each
full year course passed with a
minimum grade of 3 in grades
9 through 12. Class rank is
not calculated. Every student
who graduates from VIS receives
a VIS high school diploma.
Most students also take the full
IB Diploma.
Vienna International School (VIS) is an International Baccalaureate (IB) Continuum World School accredited by
the Council of International Schools (CIS) and the Middle States Association (MSA), offering three IB programmes:
PYP, MYP, DP. All eligible VIS students receive an American high school diploma, with the option to pursue
the full International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma or select IB courses alongside high school subjects.
