Learning Support & Counselling
Learning Support Services
Learning Support at Vienna International School is directly informed by
the School’s mission to empower all students to be successful, responsible and confident learners within a nurturing and diverse community. In
harmony with the IB Learner Profile and the spirit of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the programme promotes inclusive education
and ensures meaningful, equitable access to learning from Early Learning
through Grade 12. By recognising and supporting individual learning differences, the programme enables students to become inquiring, inspired
and involved lifelong learners, equipped to achieve their potential in a
changing world. Through early identification, personalised planning and
targeted intervention, students develop the skills, strategies and self-advocacy required for academic and personal success.
In-Class Support
Direct support in subject area classes
(where applicable) to help students
navigate challenging content and
apply appropriate learning strategies.
Specialized Instruction
Direct support / instruction in learning
support classes, such as Resource
Studies to develop essential academic skills and learning strategies.
Support is delivered through Individual Learning Plans, Accommodation
Plans, classroom-based assistance, Learning Support Resource Studies
class and short-term interventions, informed by comprehensive assessment and educational psychology screening. Collaboration between teachers, Learning Support specialists, students and families ensures that each
learner’s programme remains responsive and effective. Ongoing monitoring strengthens student independence, confidence and resilience. Diversity is embraced as a powerful asset that enriches the entire learning
community.
