Vienna International School
Director’s Greetings
It is my honor to share the 2025 Vienna International School Annual Report.
As VIS has entered a most pivotal year since its last evaluation, our school
community has come to define the word “achievement” not only by what
we have accomplished, but also by what we have reflected upon, and where
we are now intentionally moving towards creating the future.
Antony Geralis,
Director
The academic success of the Class of 2025 is a true demonstration of the
academic rigor of the IB Diploma Programme and other pathways offered
by VIS. These outstanding academic achievements are reflective of the hard
work, perseverance, curiosity, and determination of VIS graduates; the commitment of our teachers; and the support of our parents. Additionally, the
Class of 2025 embodies the core values of VIS: they are articulate, principled, and compassionate young adults capable of positively contributing to
universities, communities and society globally.
The way VIS students learn goes well beyond classroom walls. Throughout
the year, VIS students have grown academically, socially, and emotionally.
They have demonstrated resilience, a willingness to take on challenges and
a desire to be agents of their own learning.
Regardless of whether a VIS student achieves through inquiry-based academic work, creative expressions, athletic endeavors or service learning;
success at VIS is determined not only by results, but also by growth, character, and the positive impact each student has on their communities. Of
course, there was much excitement about our SV Boys Basketball team winning the championship and being undefeated throughout the Winter season
(2025–2026).
I hope that as
you review this
“transitional” 2025
Annual Report, you will
see a rich portrayal
of a school that is
proud of its values,
strengthened by
reflection, and united
in its direction.
One of the other defining events of the year was the evaluation visit by the
IB, CIS and MSA in November 2025. This appreciative inquiry learning
experience provided our school community with an opportunity to be affirmed and energized. The evaluation validated the many strengths of VIS,
our inclusive culture, our commitment to the wellbeing of our community,
the quality of teaching and learning at VIS, and the coherence of our educational philosophy. Equally important, the evaluation provided thoughtful
recommendations to help us refine our focus and prioritize our goals for
the next several years. The evaluation process has allowed us to deepen our
collective understanding of who we are as a school, what we value, and how
we can continue to grow with intention.
The findings are directly aligned with the implementation of our Strategic
Plan, which serves as the guide for our work in areas such as learning, wellbeing, community, and organizational sustainability. Our strategic plan is
not a document on a shelf or a folder, but rather a living commitment to
innovation and the preservation of the elements that make VIS unique. We
are working together to build a school that is reflective, future focused, and
rooted in its mission, yet willing to acknowledge and learn from its mistakes!
